Altus

Today's venue: Altus to the Altus Air Force Base for the Lesco Branch (Lesco and John Deere Landscapes merged but we still call them Lesco).

I44 from Newcastle to Elgin is a Turnpike and this is the only reasonable Toll plaza on the route. You actually go off the highway and can remain at highway speed, which unlike the rest of Oklahoma highways is 75!

A fuel stop. Restroom break! McDonalds and a fuelport in the center of the highway! How crazy yet very nice. The I44 Turnpike to Tulsa and on through Missouri has two or three of them.

The crappy toll plaza. From 75 to 30 back to 75 again. Ugggghhhh.

Road construction. Nice rebridging.

Welcome to Fort Sill and Lawton!

WHAT!!!! NOT AGAIN!!!! WHAT IS THIS ST GEORGE YOU JUST FINISHED THIS LAST WEEK!!!! I was applauding (very literally) last time I went to Altus because this part of I44 was finally finished (I think they've been working on this since my mission - I AM SERIOUS 100%)

The Original Fort Sill

My Exit.

The Lawton Watertower off Rogers Lane.

Deyo, Deeeeeyyyyo. Deyo come now me go on to Altus. Its a Day its a day its a day long trip Oh.

Goats for my Love.

Oh by the way, US62 between Lawton and Altus is called the Quanah Parker Highway and here is a memorial to the Comanche Chief Quanah Parker.
If you open up this picture below you should be able to read it. And I though the Quanah Parker was a girl. My bad.

My destination. Altus Air Force Base.

A plane display on the Base.

The reason we have Pee Wee. Another driver (no really it wasn't me) fell asleep and did this to this truck. He was lucky very lucky. Especially since he didn't wake up until after the dust settled.

The City of Altus plane in the central park.

I guess they are not practicing today. They are all lined up. Actually as I left Altus I saw them doing their training through my rear view mirror.

Scenery.

North Fork of the Red River.

The Coppertop of Lawton, at least that's what I call it. Reminds me of Overton.

Thanks, ODBL.

Two Army Watertowers of Fort Sill.

Oooh. Farmtown.

The Old bridge and the new bridge over the Canadian River.
Backed up traffic. Oh why?

Oh dear. I watched them put this guy in the ambulance. His truck was flipped over. Out of respect I didn't photograph that.

The Oklahoma River

The Oklahoma State Fair Park.

Loves! 122nd and I35. They have squeegies with long handles so I can wash my windows... and I'm out of gas too. (Sorry about the splotchy pics!)

I think it's time for u to remove the word verification. I try to be as quick as possible on the internet ;) because I often have two fighting weasels to take care of. I can't b taking the timet to guess what noxious word they are trying to make me type. I can never get it right the first time!

I am going to try and get a picture of Farmtown to compare it with. I don't know if you can go on fort sill but they have a museum there so if they aren't at hightened alert maybe. Nope those aren't mountains they are really tall hills! Seriously. Well actually that big house is in the middle of Lawton they just bought tons of land all around it so it looks like its all alone. At first I didn't understand the comment on word verification. I was thinking did I use that word (the word: verification that is) too much. Silly Me.
